We Take the Stress Out of Renovations

Looking to renovate your home but don’t know where to start?
Have you got some idea on what you would like to do, but not sure how to get there?
Or do you have your plans ready, and are searching or the right builder for your renovation?

Planning and designing the project with one company managing the process from start to finish has many advantages. Renovating with Gregory Built has many advantages – lean on our wealth of construction knowledge, we are great at creating efficiencies, cost savings throughout the entire process, just to name a few!

Plan

The first step in the process is for the Project Manager to understand exactly what you want to achieve in your home. We listen carefully to your requirements, and ask questions to ensure we understand exactly what you are looking for, what is important to you and why. The Planning process is about functionality. What are you trying to achieve with your renovation? We will ask about your living situation, and how you use your home. We will want to know your plans for your foreseeable future, so we can be sure we are ‘renovating for the future.’

During the Planning process, we get technical. We take all of your ideas and ensure that they are physically possible to achieve. If required (for larger renovations) we will pass the plans onto engineers who diligently assess every detail of the build, to ensure a strong, safe and compliant construction process. By the end of the Planning process, we will provide you with an obligation-free quote for the renovation. We ensure all quotes are sent out to you within a week of your in-home consultation – because we know your time is precious. The quote will include a reasonable price for all aspects of the renovation, but is still flexible if there are changes made during the Design process.

Design

The next step in the process is the creative journey to find out all about you and what you want in your renovation. It’s an exciting time where you get to unleash your creativity and ideas so we can help you form a clear picture of what your renovation will look like. This is the time to explore ideas, designs, materials, colours, etc.

Whether you’re looking for a functional layout for families of all ages, luxury inclusions, or a streamlined modern aesthetic, we will support your preference and style. Drawings are then developed based on the plan, design and budget components. A detailed quote and contract can now be agreed upon based on the specifications of your project.

Build

Once the drawings and contracts are complete the most exciting phase begins – Construction! When construction begins, the Project Manager will brief the team on the project schedule and manage all of the trades. Renovating is a multi-layered process, and trades need to be carefully scheduled to keep the job moving forward seamlessly. During the renovation process, you will have one point of contact – meaning you save a lot of time and you only need to talk to one person, and to talk through any changes once. Remember our professional renovation team do this every day, so no question is too silly to ask. We are here to lead you through the renovation journey and make it as easy and enjoyable as possible for you.

We will communicate with you and ensure you are aware of what is happening and when, so you can continue to live life as normally as possible during the construction phase. When the final day arrives where we walk off site, with your renovation complete, a smile on our face as we see the improvements to your home and lifestyle! So now you know a bit more about our process.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I start? What information do I need about my renovation project?

The first step in the whole process is simply to talk to us about your project. We can either help you turn your project idea into a concept, or you can provide us with a complete project plan (e.g. floor plans, photos, inspiration or mood boards).

We are always happy to discuss your project at any stage of the renovation.

Do you do free site visits and quotations?

Yes – we provide free quotations for a bathroom, kitchen or laundry renovation.

We will also aim to have your quotation sent to you within one week of the in-home consultation.

How much will it cost?

Renovation costs vary as every project is unique. For this reason, costs are discussed early in the process, to ensure you are aware of the costs involved upfront. Renovation costs depend on several factors, such as:

  • The scope of work
  • Size of the room(s)
  • Layout alterations
  • Quality and cost of fittings and fixtures, materials and finishes

If you would like to get an approximate price of your renovation please contact us and we will organise a time to discuss your renovation with you.

How long will my bathroom renovation take to be completed?

Every renovation is different and depends on the extent of the renovation. We have put together the following table to give you a better understanding of the project timeframes:

Type of Renovation Bathroom Kitchen Laundry Notes
General timeframe 3-4 weeks Excludes shower screen and mirror installation
Melamine (Laminex) cupboards 4-5 weeks From signed construction drawings
2-pack (painted) cupboards 6-7 weeks From signed construction drawings
Stone benchtops + 2 weeks
Glass, mirror or stone splashback + 2 weeks

Significant structural work or layout changes may also add to this time-frame.

Every renovation is unique and the expected completed timeframe will change depending on the scope of work.

Will the rest of my home collect dust during the renovation?

All doors leading to adjacent rooms to the renovated area must be kept closed to prevent the travel of dust. Our team will exercise as much precaution as possible to keep the renovated areas protected, however in some cases it is difficult to prevent dust on a construction site. Please cover any personal items in other rooms that you are particularly concerned about.

All due care will be taken to protect floor coverings throughout the renovation.

Do your renovations include warranties?

Yes – our renovations include the use of high-quality materials with warranties, required insurances, licensing, and project management to ensure the renovation is performed to the highest standard.

Can I purchase my own products for my bathroom renovation?

Yes – you may choose to source your own products independently.

Please note that if you wish to supply your own products we cannot accept responsibility for warranty or faulty products or if the items are deemed incomplete or not in appropriate condition to install.

Do you supply and install appliances?

Yes, everything within your plan, including ovens, cook tops, dishwashers, range hoods, taps, basins, tiles and cabinetry can be specified, sourced and safely installed by our experienced team.

Can I just get a ball park figure?

Yes – the cost of your renovation is discussed with you early in the process to make sure you are aware of the costs involved in a complete renovation. This estimate becomes more accurate as we progress through to a written quotation and contract discussions

How much does a renovation cost?

Every renovation is different and depends on the extent of the renovation. We have put together the following table to give you a better understanding of the average project costs:

Renovation Bathroom Kitchen Laundry
Estimated cost $18,000 – $30,000 $25,000 – $40,000 $15,000 – $25,000

Estimated costs exclude GST.

Please note that changing the layout of the room, wall construction / removal, or opting for a luxury renovation with high-end products (such as marble, natural stone, under-floor heating etc) may increase the cost estimate.

These prices are an estimation to provide you with a rough idea how much a renovation will cost. Please contact us to have a chat so we can provide an accurate quote.

Do we need to move out during the renovation?

It is possible to remain living in your house if the renovation work is confined to one area within your home. If you have more than one bathroom we can renovate one at a time, meaning you can save on offsite accommodation.

Your bathroom, kitchen and/or laundry will be out of action during the renovation process. For a single bathroom home it can be a little tricky to continue living in the home during the renovation. We can organize a temporary shower and toilet for your family if you would like to continue living in the home.

Before starting work, we will formulate a plan with you on how to keep the elements out and the rest of your house free from dust. You may be required to do some of your own planning in ensuring you have access to all the amenities you need.

It is important to note that any renovation is a construction zone – one where residents should not enter without the appropriate safety equipment and knowledge. In situations where you have children or pets near the construction area it may be safest to ensure they cannot enter the construction zone. For large-scale renovations, we usually recommend you stay elsewhere during the renovation — it’s no fun living in a construction site.

Do I need to be home during the renovation?

You do not need to be on site during the renovation.

We will require access to the property between 7:30am – 5pm every day during the renovation (including weekends where possible). Please advise our team if you would like us to be aware of any special circumstances.

Will someone guide me through the renovation process?

Yes – one of our experienced project managers will be dedicated to your project to ensure there is clear communication and you are fully informed and consulted from the initial consultation to final handover.

I have my design already, can you construct my renovation using my design?

Yes – we can use your designs and convert them into a construction plan. We will discuss the construction plan with you to ensure you are happy with the renovation design.
